Personality:

Friendly: He’s definitely not one to turn down anyone’s friendship. If they come, he’ll be more than happy to show them a good time, telling jokes, and making a fool himself. Loners beware, he will feel the need to approach and befriend you. Your prickles be damned.

Passionate: He’s almost got a one-track mind when it comes to the things he loves. If he’s going to participate in something willingly, he’ll devote 150% of himself to that, whether its projects or relationships—he’s definitely in it to win it.

Considerate: He always wants to take others into account. He feels that everyone should be part of everything, whether it’s a small conversation or giant group gatherings. He’ll take everyone in account of all the decisions he does. It’s just not right to leave someone alone.

Generous: He likes to share. If he has something someone doesn’t, he’ll give it to them, and not feel bad. Of course, there are restrictions, but 9/10 he’ll give it up.

Skeptical: He doesn’t trust easily, and will question motives, or how an object work. Sometimes, he’ll even question the quality of it. He just doesn’t trust easily.

 Lazy: He is a phone running on 5% battery most of the time. If he doesn’t have to do it, he won’t do it, and only the threat of death will get him to do something (or being banned from drinking coke. That’s like a death sentence already)

 Indecisive: He's a greedy boy, he wants everything. No, not really, he just has difficulty deciding. Asking him which one is better results in high pitched squeaking and a very panicky Kyuu.  

 Competitive: He likes to compete. It can be over the smallest things, but he’ll suddenly feel the urge to one up someone. Even on something small as doing laundry (incentive for chores yay!) 

Logical: he’s horribly smart and practical, which is great for academics, but sometimes, he just overthinks things and his brain goes haywire. He also has difficulty understanding basic emotions like sadness, but he’ll try his hardest to give anyone a shoulder to cry on

Proud: He knows he’s great, and sometimes he’ll brag about it. Most of the time he’s just bragging about his friends or family.

Bio:

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, “I’ll be fine mom, really. Besides it’s not like I’ll be alone there. Maki and Andy will be there.”

“I know, and it’s great that they have a place for you.” I let her smooth out the non-existent wrinkles on my shirt. She’s just worried, but really. It was my time already. I believe I can fly. 

“Will you be able to have work there?” My dad was the opposite of mom: the perfect picture of calm and collected.

I grinned, “the hospital set me up. Told me they were sad to see me go, but hey, I couldn’t resist the offer. It’s going in to my medical studies and hopefully get me that surgeon’s position faster.” Dad nodded, a proud smile on his face. If I wasn’t so emotional I’d be preening like a cat.

“Maybe you’ll finally find a date there,” Eiko interjected. She’s got a smug smirk on his face, but it disappeared when I opened my arms. She makes a reluctant noise, but gave me a hug anyway.

“Nah,” I said, patting her back. “You and mom will always be my girls.”

“Maki will kill you if you don’t include her in that list,” she sniffled, stepping away from me.

“Yeah, but she already knows she’s up there.” I give them all one last hug, as I realized what time it was. Then I was looking at them past the metal detectors, and I told myself I wouldn’t cry. I’ll remember to give them a call as soon as I step off the plane.

Sometimes, people come up to him and ask: ‘so where are you from?’ and nine out of ten, he’ll answer: Japan. If he’s feeling good, otherwise it’s a good close to the conversation. It’s a partial truth, which works for him. He was born and raised in California, but his parents are Japanese. His dad was born in Japan, but immigrated to America when he was young. His mom on the other hand, was born in America. It was like living a double life: American legally, Asian socially. It helps that he has a younger sister to complain to.

He grew up surrounded in Japanese culture, perhaps the only thing he has difficulty in is reading Kanji. His parents laugh at him when he messes up a reading, which he thinks is unfair because at least he’s trying, and his dear gremlin of a sister doesn’t even try (she didn’t want others to think she was a weab or something, idiot that she is).

Kyuu met Maki and Andy when he was much younger. They bonded over nap times and recess, it was clear that they were the best of friends. It's why it hurt him so much to see them leave for Japan. Sure, he was happy for them, but it's never easy to say goodbye to your loved ones. Needless to say, when Kyuu entered college without them it was a struggle. 

He took nursing as his major, however, took extra classes he needed for medical school. It was the fastest way he could think of getting to Japan. Even with his outstanding grades, his parents were reluctant to let him leave. They didn't think he was responsible enough, Kyuu just thinks that they're not ready for him to leave yet. Thus he relented and stayed a year working as a nurse to save money. His saving grace came in the form of a scholarship for med school in Japan. 

Faced with the scholarship and the idea that Maki would be there to take care of him, his parents relented. A few week later he had a ticket to Japan, and to see his friends.
